Hello, I am Teresa Dearman and I founded Nonnie’s Shaved Ice Treats on July 10, 2023, but my journey to creating the business started long before. After retiring as a hairdresser with forty years of experience and spending a few years working at General Motors, I wanted to pursue something that would bring me closer to my family. That’s when I decided to dive into the world of shaved ice.

My love for shaved ice began on a trip to Arkansas, where I experienced it for the first time. I was instantly hooked and found myself returning again and again for that sweet, refreshing treat. Returning home, I discovered LILO’s Shaved Ice Desserts in Liberty and wanted to create the same delicious flavors for Nonnie’s. I friended Tara, the owner, through emails and she shared a few of her secrets. I promised never to compete in her area.

Driven by a desire to create something special for my family, I invested in the business on my own and brought my grandkids into the fold. It quickly became a family affair, with each grandchild lending a hand in making Nonnie’s a success. From Caleb and Caden to Colton, Casen, Madison, and William, the family is at the heart of everything we do.

One of my biggest goals was to take shaved ice to the next level, my youngest son and his four son’s worked diligently to create the perfect molecular bonds of pure cane sugar and water with almost half the amount sugar to have the perfect delicious flavor for shaved ice.

What really sets Nonnie’s apart, though, is the ice cream inside. Nonnie’s is thrilled to partner with Shatto Milk this season, offering an even richer, smoother taste that will take every bite to a new level of deliciousness.

This year, Nonnie’s is excited to expand their menu with a special addition: Indian tacos, making sure there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
